07 Essential Items You Must Pack for Your Beach Vacation – Get Set for Sun, Sand & Surf

Packing for a beach holiday is exciting, but it's not just swimsuits and loads of sunscreen; there are some essentials that will ensure your holiday is full of fun. Read on for some useful tips.

1

Start With the Swimsuits

Pack at least two swimsuits; make sure they look stylish while being supportive allowing for all those water-based activities you will be indulging in. If you are planning a holiday at places such as Anantaya Resort & Spa Chilaw take along a 'look good' swimsuit for soaking up the sun around the pool and one for actually indulging in some swimming and water sports offered at such Chilaw hotels or resorts. The two sets of swimsuits rule, applies to both men and women, with beach shorts working well for men who like to chill while enjoying a cool drink.

2

Pack a Portable Cooler

Well, if you are jetting off to a beach resort on holiday, you may not need to take along a cooler, but carrying a portable one will turn out to be handy, especially, if you plan on exploring the area attractions. There are good brands which promise to keep drinks icy cold and having that chilled beer at hand is quite a treat.

3

Pack a Cover Up

An essential item of clothing to pack for any beach holiday is a cover-up. This can be a colourful kaftan or a shirt with long sleeves. A useful item of clothing should you decide to head off on an explorative tour of the region from the beach, a cover-up will be handy. A cover-up is also ideal for protecting you from the harsh rays of the sun and is available in cute designs especially if you shop around the little kiosks located close to hotels in Chilaw.

4

Pack Shorts and Tank Tops

Cotton shorts are very handy and comfortable for relaxing in hot climes. Denim shorts are durable and convenient while tank tops make sure you don't get stuck with odd tan lines.

5

Pack a Pair of Flip Flops

Flip flops and sandals are the best for walking on sandy shores. They will keep your feet cool and not retain any sand. You can wade in the water and walk on the beach in flip-flops while a pair of practical sandals will be a dressier option in case you need to attend any beach parties.

6

Baggy Pants

Baggy or loose pants are essential for staying cool and relaxed on your beach vacation. Make sure to take along at least 3 pairs of colourful cotton pants. You can buy vibrantly coloured pants at many tropical destinations, or take a set from home and combine it with some plain coloured t-shirts which you can mix and match.

7

Beach Bag

Take along the largest tote bag you can handle and pack it with all your beach essentials before leaving your hotel room. This bag should be able to carry sunscreen, shades, a towel, an extra swimsuit, your music player and book if you plan on relaxing under the shade of coconut palm.
