Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa of Dubai is a building with many world records. The tower designed to resemble the Hymenocallis flower is not only the tallest building in the world but it is also the tallest free-standing structure, elevator with the longest travel distance and the building with the highest number of floors in the world. The construction of the building commenced in 2004 and it was officially declared open in 2010. Named after the president and ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan it is dedicated in his honour. The Burj Khalifa redefined the architectural and engineering possibility of constructing a building with a remarkable height. The Burj is designed combining innovative technologies and cultural influences. You also see that the design embodies references to Islamic architecture with a touch of modernization, which makes it on par with the global community. The building houses eight hotels, luxury apartments, office complexes as well as a range of other facilities. The observation deck of Burj Khalifa has the most spectacular views of the Dubai metropolis and the Middle Eastern skyline. Princess Tower

In 2012, Princess Tower was officiated by the Guinness World Records as the world's tallest residential building. Standing 414m above the ground the Prince's tower occupies 100 floors. Dubai Fountain

The Dubai Fountain is the world's biggest choreographed fountain display that dances for various music and songs played in the background. It is a 30-acre manmade fountain set on the Burj Khalifa Lake in the midst of the Downtown Dubai development area. The length of the fountain spreads out to twice the length of a football ground. The fountain opened to the public in 2009 and was designed by a California based design company. The massive display of water is no ordinary fountain, with over six thousand lights, twenty-five colour projectors it shoots water up to 500ft into the air. The cost to build the fountain was US dollars 218 million. The name of the fountain was chosen through a competition organized by the famous Emaar properties. There are many interesting facts about the Dubai Fountain one of which is that it can spray 83,000 litres of water into the air at any one minute. During the 2011 New Year celebrations, there was an outline of fire around the fountain, which was a temporary element to the show.
