5 Reasons why you should travel to Hua Hin – More reasons to add Thailand's hidden gem to your bucket list

Thailand's cities like Bangkok and Phuket Chiang Mai are already popular destinations for travellers. But, if you want to explore new cities, here are 5 reasons why Hua Hin should be your next stop.

1

Its central location

Although there are more than plenty of things to do in Hua Hin, one of its biggest draw is the central location that makes it a great stopover point for travellers moving around the region. Situated just 3-hours from Bangkok, Hua Hin couldn't be any more different. Although the city has seen lots of development over the years, it has managed to retain its unique slow pace, offering travellers an ideal setting for relaxation and tranquillity. From scenic beaches to flourishing vineyards the city has plenty to keep you entertained.

2

Embrace nature at the marine national park

If you're in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and yearning for the great outdoors, you've come to the right place. Hua Hin is home to the country's first marine national park - Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. Located an hour's drive from the city, the marine park offers spectacular views, mountains and a freshwater marsh. Visitors can take a boat tour around the marshland and spot the many reptiles, birds and various other wetland species that live here. The park also contains 3 caves, the main highlight being Phraya Nakhon cave. This cave features a historic royal pavilion called Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuhat which is best viewed when the sunlight streams in through the open cavern, casting a golden hue on the pavilion. Although the idea of travelling for an hour just to get to the park might deter would-be visitors, the stunning scenery and vistas more than make up for it.

3

Theme park haven

Summers in Hua Hin can see temperatures soaring to uncomfortable heights, but luckily, the city has its fair share of water parks to help you cool off. The city is also home to several water parks including Asia's first water theme park Vana Nava Waterpark Hua Hin.

4

Unique historical monuments

If you're keen on visiting historical sights, check out the Marukataiyawan Palace, a royal summer palace that features both Thai and Victorian architecture. Constructed in the 1920s, the palace features traditional Thai pavilion as well as furniture and teak elements that were taken from the now ruined Hat Chao Samran Palace. The Baan Sillapin Artists Village is also another place to see if you enjoy art in all its forms. From art exhibitions to workshops, and special traditional performances, you can view them all here.

5

Great for both budget and leisure travellers

Whether you're a leisure traveller or backpacking your way around the country, regardless of seasons, Hua Hin has great accommodation options for you. Leisure travellers can find plenty of good hotels and resorts that are peppered along the coastline like Avani+ Hua Hin Resort for example. Budget travellers can find plenty of affordable options in the city centre near the night markets.
