Siem Reap is a family-friendly destination that offers many activities to partake in. Your kids are bound to love this city which goes beyond its magnificent temples. Here is a list of things you can check out when in Siem Reap.

Nights at the circus

No one can deny the fact that children love circuses. There is an extremely hilarious and very high energy circus show that takes place in this city. It is a brilliant way to spend your evenings in this temple town. Both the adults and the kids will love it! There are young talented Cambodians who perform acrobatics and other circus tricks to Cambodian music.

Pre-temple excursions

Temples are often something that is not linked with children. When in Siem Reap, you have to take your kids out here. It is no secret the reason why you travelled all the way to Cambodia to this special town is for the magnificent Angkor Wat. If you are quite worried that the kids might get bored by the temple complex, don't you worry, as there are many archaeological sites with exceptional crafts and statues that serve as pre-temple excursions which will fascinate children.

Private tour

It will also be recommended to take private tours through the temple. A professional guide will know exactly how to get these kids interested and engaged. He or she will make all this 'supposed' boring history come to life which your kids will very much enjoy. You can also take a tuk-tuk tour which can be a very entertaining way to get to know this ancient temple town. If you are looking for top restaurants in Siem Reap that serve meals fit for children, you can check out places like Chi Restaurant. After all, kids do tend to get ravenous after some exploration!

Remote ruins

There are remote temple ruins that are completely engulfed by tropical jungles, that serve as places to be explored. Kids love a sense of adventure and if you portray to them correctly, they will be more than willing to head over to these ruins and discover ancient treasures. Even the scenery surrounding these temples are absolutely breath-taking. They can also explore palm-fringed fields that are peppered with water buffaloes and other farmyard scenes surrounding the temples.

5

Chasing butterflies

Once you are quite content with your temple adventure, you can head over to Banteay Srei Butterfly Centre to chase butterflies. The centre is open every day from 9 am onwards until 5 pm and will only cost around $2 for the kids and $4 for the adults. You will see vibrantly coloured species of butterflies which are a joy to watch.

The Landmine Museum

Located quite close to the butterfly centre is this incredible museum. If you have older kids, teenagers, they will get a lot out of this visit.
