7 Maldives Travel Tips for Your Holiday – Plan right!

Out of all the islands on the planet, the Maldives is undoubtedly the most romantic destination, thus, it is popular among many honeymoon couples. If you are planning on a romantic getaway as well, here are a few tips to help arrange your trip.

1

Best time to visit

The weather in the Maldives is good most times of the year, but there are the peak season and the off season here as well. From November to April, however, is the best weather for visit to the archipelago with plenty of sunshine and a gentle breeze to keep you relaxed. The monsoon season is from May to October, this would be the off-season here. If you are a budget traveller, visit during the shoulder season which is between the peak and off-peak periods for the best price on resorts in private islands in Maldives.

2

Getting from island to island

When you arrive in the Maldives, you will be setting foot on the main island which is Male. If your resort island is quite far from the main island, you might have to arrange a domestic flight to get to your resort. However, domestic flights are still expensive, if you can afford it, its all well and good. But for those on budget, this would be too much out of your pocket. To avoid this, you will have to book your accommodation on an island that's closer to Male. This way you will be able to take a boat ride to your hotel instead which is a much cheaper option. Some resorts, however, offer airport transfers for greater convenience.

3

Book flights & hotels online

If you aren't travelling to the Maldives through a tour company where your hotels and flights will be pre-booked, then the option of booking online is best. Flights and hotels can always be compared online to identify which ones have the best price and the best facilities available for your requirements. Some resorts like Naladhu Private Island Maldives may have special packages with discounted rates and extra facilities on their websites as well. research as much as possible and see what works best for you.

4

Never plan for Ramadan period

Make sure to check the calendar and never plan for a holiday to the Maldives during the period of Ramadan. Of course, the season depends on the lunar calendar, but find out online when the season begins. During this season, the employees at hotels, shops, restaurants and sports centres all go off to be with family. Food will not be available during the afternoon time as locals will be fasting. Although you may like to observe the traditions and whatnots, this is the worst period to visit.

5

Respect the local culture

Although this goes without saying for a traveller, there are a few things that you can't do in the Maldives in accordance with their culture. For instance, alcohol is served only in resorts. If you are visiting the main and resident islands you need to be dressed conservatively and be sure not to expose too much skin. Also, no bikinis are to be worn at public beaches in the Maldives.
