The Dream Arcade: Top 10 Great MS-DOS Games to Play Today

The Internet Archive just released over 2400 MS-DOS games over the internet, for free. Now all the games you loved when you were young are at your fingertips. It's time to sink 100s of hours into pure nostalgia. Add your favourites!!

MS-DOS Sim City
Sim City or basically any Sim game is super fun and really well known. This one is addictive, but who could blame you when you have the option of building the ultimate city. You're only addicted to the dream.
MS-DOS Disney's Duck Tales
If you used to park yourself in front of the TV every Saturday morning for cartoons and sugary cereal, this game is for you. Duck Tale's was a great cartoon, and the game will take you straight back to those Saturdays in the early 90s.
MS-DOS Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Take Manhattan
Everyone knows who the Ninja Turtles are. They're the favourite characters in every decade. It only makes sense that this game would be on the list. You know the deal, Shredder is bad, Turtles are good, now go.
MS-DOS Marios Game Gallery
This is on here because Mario will never fail you (or the princess). Mario games are so loved it is almost intense. This is probably because they're fun and hard to forget.
MS-DOS Donald Duck's Playground
I have to be honest, this game is on the list because it was my favourite when I was a kid. But we're playing these partly for that reason, right? It's hilarious to look back on it's simple structure with capitalist undertones. I still enjoy it. Donald Duck does bit work to earn money for building a playground.
MS-DOS Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Home Alone was the king of 90s movies and this game is as hilarious as it is fun. These games are notorious for how difficult they are, so you should be proud when you finish one. Plus, think of the great conversations you'll have about them. Escape then catch Harry and Marv in the big apple.
MS-DOS Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego?
This is one of those sneaky games that inserts some aspect of learning into gameplay. We will forgive them for this, because this game is so fun. It was also a kids game show on PBS in the 90s. Follow clues given to you as an Interpol agent to travel around the world looking for Carmen, a notorious expert thief.
MS-DOS Wolfenstein 3D
It's a first person shooter with a historically familiar enemy: Nazi Germany. This game is a classic because it set the standard the future of the first persons shooter experience.
MS-DOS Street Fighter II
Street Fighter is Street Fighter and I feel like that says enough. Almost everyone I know has played a game of Street Fighter, and the game is a cultural icon.
MS-DOS Donkey Kong
I swear there is nothing more addictive than this game. It's draw is in it's simplicity and the fact that timing is the key.
